A Bedouin Experience – 8 days from $3019
Join On The Go for a special tour of Jordan featuring a day with Marguerite van Geldermalsen as your guest guide to the rose city of Petra. Marguerite’s story begins simply: “He seemed enthusiastic – and we were looking for adventure” this is how a 22 year old nurse from New Zealand, who in 1978 was backpacking around the Middle East ended up falling in love with a charismatic Bedouin souvenir-seller and living with him, in a 2,000 year old cave carved out of the pink rock of Petra, cooking over an open fire, collecting water by donkey and using her medical skills to establish a health clinic for the local Bedouin community. The remainder of this tour is spent exploring the roman ruins of Jerash, the Dead Sea, discovering the spectacular desert mountain landscape of Wadi Rum by 4x4 Jeep, the sea-side resort of Aqaba and finally the Byzantine mosaics of Madaba. (tour dates in September 09 and March 10 – please enquire for details)
