Tour Itinerary
- Day 1 - Johannesburg
Johannesburg. Welcome to South Africa! An airport transfer is provided by the Safari Club Lodge (our pre tour accommodation) which is close to the airport. Spend the remains of the day at leisure. - Day 2 - Graskop
After a pre departure meeting at 06.30am, then we depart Johannesburg and head east towards Mpumalanga. A landscape characterized by mountains, panoramic passes, valleys, rivers, waterfalls and forests. We spend the night in the town of Graskop, a small forestry town situated on the Drakensberg Escarpment at the start of the panorama route and the gateway to Kruger National Park. - Day 3-4 - Kruger N.P.
Graskop - Kruger National Park. This morning we start with a scenic drive along the Panorama Route. The most spectacular stretch is the Blyde River Canyon, which is the 3rd largest canyon in the world. We make a stop at Bourke’s Luck Potholes to view these incredible eroded rock formations. In the afternoon we head into Kruger National Park. Big game country - exciting morning and afternoon game drives provide us with excellent opportunities to encounter wildlife. Spot lion, elephant, rhino and other animals in one of the last African wildernesses. - Day 5 - Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary
Kruger National Park - Swaziland. The mountainous Kingdom of Swaziland, lead by King Mswati III, is one of 3 monarchies in Africa. We spend the night in Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, Swaziland’s pioneer conservation area situated in the ‘Valley of Heaven’. Apart from abundant bird life, there are a number of animal species to be seen including hippo, giraffe, crocodile, zebra and antelope. - Day 6-7 - Hluhluwe Umfolozi National Park
Swaziland - Zululand. After visiting a craft market en route, we re-enter South Africa via Northern Kwa-Zulu Natal. Our first stop is the Dumazulu Cultural Village, where we get to experience the Zulu way of life. The following day we explore Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve, on a game drive, Hluhluwe Umfolozi is the oldest game reserve in Africa and is a safe haven to both endangered black and white rhino. - Day 8-9 - Drakensberg Mountains
Hluhuwe Game reserve - Drakensburg Mountains. Moving further south to the newly formed Maloti Drakensberg Transfrontier Conservation Area. There will be plenty of time to enjoy the many activities on offer, such as hiking, mountain biking and fishing. Alternatively just relax and enjoy the views offered by some of the most dramatic scenery in the country. - Day 10-11 - Malealea
Drakensburg - Lesotho. Today we cross the border into Lesotho, the southernmost landlocked country in the world, rich in natural beauty, flora, fauna and cultural heritage. Here we have a chance to experience traditional Basotho life, a nation with solid traditions, beliefs and customs. On Day 11 we enjoy pony trekking through the magnificent landscapes that Lesotho has to offer. - Day 12 - Cradock
Lesotho - Cradock. We leave the beauty of Lesotho behind us and cross the border back into South Africa and drive to the historical Karoo town of Cradock, founded in 1814 as a frontier stronghold. Best known for its natural sulphur spring, Cradock is a place of literary legends and the original part of the town is graced with some of the finest buildings. - Day 13-14 - Addo Elephant National Park
Cradock - Addo Elephant National Park. On day 13 we drive to Addo Elephant National Park, a conservation success which offers a unique wildlife area, famous for the Addo elephants. We head out on game drives in search of elephant, black rhino, lion, buffalo and leopard with evening viewing at the floodlit waterhole. - Day 15-16 - Tsitsikamma N.P.
Addo Elephant National Park - Tsitsikamma. On day 15 our journey takes us to a region of startling beauty along South Africa’s southern coastline, known as the Garden Route. Indigenous Tsitsikamma forests surround the campsite and there are walks up the Storms River Gorge and along the rocky coastline or opt to do the world’s highest bungee jump (optional pay locally). - Day 17 - Oudtshoorn
After visiting ‘The Heads’ in Knysna, a town nestled on a tranquil lagoon we travel over the Outeniqua Mountains into the Little Karoo. In Oudtshoorn we visit the famous Cango Caves. - Day 18-19 - Stellenbosch and Cape Town
Oudtshoorn - Cape Town. Today we visit Stellenbosch, for wine tasting and a cellar tour en route to Cape Town. Once in Cape Town we explore the many attractions the ‘Mother City’ has to offer on a Cape Point tour. There is plenty of time to enjoy the fabulous beaches or indulge in last minute shopping at the V&A Waterfront. There is also an optional visit to Robben Island (payable locally). - Day 20 - Cape Town
Cape Town. Spend the final day at leisure, weather dependent there is the chance to take the cable car up Table Mountain and enjoy one last view of the Cape of Good Hope (payable locally). A group transfer to the airport is offered at 18.00. Should you need an earlier or later transfer, this can be arranged at an additional cost.
